A quick hello in between cities

Well, i´m actually a liar, because i´m not actually between cities. that would be just silly, wouldn´t it, blogging in between cities? absolutely. and i apologize for the lack of capitalization and what may possibly end up in typos, because for the first time i am writing a blog from a peruvian internet cafe and it´s different--muy, muy different! i started to write my blog last night, and as usual it´s a 4-5 page long affair with even more pictures than usual. but as it turns out, i didn´t finish, so it´s sitting in my laptop right now, just waiting to be finished. just waiting for the laptop to be broken out, yet again. and i have learned a good lesson, in my one week of real traveling--i pack way too dang much! i thought i was really good, just having two bags, but my current traveling companion has shown me the wonders of wearing the same clothes every day and being a dirty traveler. i´m really excited to dabble in the marvels of being a dirty traveler. oh yeah, i´ve been wearing the same outfit for the last four days, and i´ll certainly be wearing it for all of tomorrow as i´m in transit and truly in between cities. we´re headed up to mancora. right now we sit our cute little selves in cajamarca, where we´ve been since early wednesday morning, and our bus for chiclayo leaves in approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. then from chiclayo, we have to take another bus to piura. then from piura, another bus to mancora, and then in mancora, a taxi to our final destination--one hostel or another. travel plans are truly vague, no? but no worries, i am traveling with a new friend which has proven to be a good idea. details on that vaguery will follow in my next excessive blog entry.

i am still becoming accustomed to the traveling life and am learning more every day. that feeling that i get, though, upon entering any form of transportation be it a taxi, combi, or public transportation bus, the feeling that the driver may take me somewhere remote and try to rob or kill me still hasn´t diminished much. there´s also the feeling that the bigger transport buses (which are enormous and tower over the surrounding vehicles) are going to tip over sideways. yes, it may just be better that i´m taking the night bus (oh how i wish it were the night bus of harry potter fame!), so i can´t see the dangers that are just off to the side...

okay, my friends, this quick hello to let you know that i´m okay must end, as i must return to my hotel and collect my burgeoning belongings. seriously, who is ridiculous to bring a laptop traveling with them??? silly girl, don´t do that! i shake my finger at you...well, my next trip to cuzco will be much lighter. soo, i´ll take a shower every day, i promise. (or at least every other day...assuming the water´s warm...okay, we´ll just wait and see...) :)

Yes! Dirty clothes behold! Life is so simple when you just wake up and slide on the same thing you wore yesterday, double-yesterday, and yes, even triple- and quardruple-yesterday. Makes laundry simple too. :)

Can you tell that wearing the same thing for days on end is one of the things I love about backpacking?
